The current Imam of United Muslim Masjid is brother Abu Azzubayr Shadeed Muhammad.
Imam Shadeed Muhammad is originally from Montclair, NJ. He is a Graduate from the Islamic University of Madinah, Madinah Saudi Arabia with a Bachelor’s Degree from the College of Hadeeth (i.e. Prophetic Traditions) with a concentration in Hadeeth and its Sciences since 2007. He has extensive experience in the field of Da’wah (i.e. Islamic outreach) and translation. He has lectured at many masjids and colleges throughout the tri-state area, having translated for some of the most renowned scholars of our time both live in-person as well as via. telelink. Imam Shadeed has also translated many classical Arabic works into the English Language and has authored some of his very own books such as:
- “The Essential Matters of Tawheed (i.e. Monotheism) for the New Muslim” Published in 2009
- “He Came to Perfect Moral Character…The Persona of Prophet Muhammad Through My Eyes” Published 2010
- “The Paradox of Change” Overcoming the Obstacles Facing the New Female Convert to Islam Published 2011.
Imam Shadeed Muhammad was hired as the Imam of United Muslim Masjid in December of 2010. Since becoming the Imam , brother Shadeed has conducted a series of monthly workshops including (marriage and family workshops as well as an Arabic workshop). Imam Shadeed has regular weekly classes on Mondays Tuesdays, Wednesdays and alternate Fridays. He alternates his Friday sermons (i.e. Khutbahs) between UMM on So. 15th St. and UMIC on Point Breeze Ave. to accommodate both institutions.
Imam Shadeed is available in his office Monday through Friday from 12:00pm. until 8:00 pm. and his family/marriage counseling is on Thursdays from 10:00am. until 6:00pm.
